FAQs
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What does the name MOSPEADA actually stand for?

A:  MOSPEADA is an acronym for Mobile Operation Soldier Protection Emergency Aviation Dive Armor, the transforming ride armor mecha featured in the series. They can be used alone, but are typically supplied to pilots for emergency use in the event their primary mecha (e.g. Legioss) is incapacitated.

Q:  Why was MOSPEADA combined along with MACROSS and SOUTHERN CROSS into the ROBOTECH universe?

A:  None of these series met the 1985 television syndication requirement of 65 episodes. However, because all 3 anime series shared many of the same creative or production staff at Tatsunoko Productions, their similar themes and designs allowed them to be effectively adapted into the epic storyline of the 85-episode ROBOTECH series. The 25 MOSPEADA episodes comprise the last segment of ROBOTECH commonly refered to as THE NEW GENERATION. All versions (English and Japanese) are now available on DVD.

Q:  Are there any new products based on MOSPEADA in the pipeline?

A:  Yes! In 2004, DC Comics/Wildstorm published the action-packed comic book series ROBOTECH: INVASION and Global Star released the ROBOTECH: INVASION video game for on PlayStation2 and XBOX. Toynami is also continuing to expand its line of New Generation toys with the release of the Masterpiece Edition Alpha and Beta Fighters, based on Mospeada's venerable Legioss and Tread Armo-Fighters.
